"It's so simple, it's BASSIC "- BASSIC Logo®

Impedance Coupled Bass is the next logical step in transmission line design. It works in such a simple way that we can’t quite believe that we though of it first!

Here’s the short and skimpy explanation:

All vented speakers share a common problem: the enclosure works to control the driver at frequencies above the fundamental resonance of the system, but not below. At frequencies below resonance the driver is not acoustically controlled so output rolls off and the driver is free to flap around making unmusical noises and banging the stops.

Just like typical vented systems, transmission lines have always been designed with this flaw too; they exhibit excellent damping above resonance, that’s why they sound so nice, but they have little control of the driver below resonance.

So why not build a transmission line that achieves effective damping BELOW resonance ?

In more technical terms - this means that the enclosure exhibits a substantially higher acoustic impedance below system resonance. The air in the enclosure couples to the driver below resonance thereby keeping excursion under control and, more important, forces the driver to couple effectively to the air in the room.

We call this very simple idea ‘Impedance Coupled Bass’ or BASSIC for short.

From our new products you will hear  dynamic, open and extended bass that will take you by surprise.

Advanced manufacturing methods are the key to building a BASSIC speaker cabinet. So, with our newly equipped plant in Northern New York we are perfectly poised to develop and build some of the most exciting new products that high end audio has seen in years.

During the coming months we will work to introduce this new idea to the market.
